NHL Predictions for the Senators and Kraken
2024-25 Regular Season Series: Senators won 2 – 0
Time: 7:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
How to Watch TV: TSN5, RDSI
Location: Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario
It’s hard to say, but even though it is early, the Sens are in one. They need this one against the Seattle Kraken. They’re currently 1-3 on the season, and their captain Brady Tkachuk is out for at least four weeks with a wrist injury. Someone needs to step up, and soon. In saying that, offensively the Sens haven’t been bad. They do have 12 goals through four games after all. It’s keeping the puck out of the net that has been the problem.
ROSTER UPDATE: Arthur Kaliyev has been recalled from the @BellevilleSens.

To add some size and scoring, Arthur Kaliyev has been recalled from Belleville. This will help bring balance to the bottom six. It’s unclear who comes out, but one guess is Olle Lycksell.
Outside of their top defensive pairing of Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub, they have struggled. With Tyler Kleven healthy and Jordan Spence doing well as he’s stepped in, head coach Travis Green hopes they’ll come around.
The Kraken Story
The Kraken have been paced offensively by Jared McCann early on. His three goals and four points leads the team. He’s tied for the team lead in points with defenceman Vince Dunn. Otherwise they’ve spread the offence around successfully. Through three games, 15 different players have at least one point. It really is a collective effort, not unlike the depth the organization showed in 2022-23. That year they finished fourth in the Pacific with 100 points.
The Goaltending Matchup
In the goaltending matchup, it somewhat extenuates the Sens early, and we will emphasize early, troubles as a whole. Last night, giving Linus Ullmark the night off, Leevi Merilainen got shellshocked surrendering seven goals on 26 shots. Now they turn to Ullmark with his plus-four goals-against average to start the season. As you can see, the Sens need to find themselves. They are expecting their goaltending to be strong but it has been anything but thus far. Meanwhile, for the Kraken, Joey Daccord puts his 2-0-1 record on the line. He’s played well posting a 2.23 GAA and a .918 save percentage. We have to give Seattle the edge in net in this one.
NHL Predictions
We expect a low scoring game in this one. Ottawa needs to find a way to tighten up defensively. Moreover, this comes after giving up eight against Buffalo yesterday. Seattle will oblige a defensive effort, but we like Ottawa to prevail. They will be more desperate being on home ice and their difficult start to 2025-26.
Prediction: Ottawa win 3-2 in regulation.
Prop Bets
We like Matty Beniers to find twine for the Kraken. In addition, Dylan Cozens should be the one for Ottawa.
