With the Team Canada World Juniors camp opening up on Friday, two young guns have been loaned to join the team. Los Angeles Kings defensemen Brandt Clarke and Seattle Kraken centre Shane Wright have been loaned by their clubs. Both players are in the early stages of their careers and will be fun to watch as the World Juniors takes place.

Team Canada will welcome two loaned players for the World Juniors. It is not uncommon at this time of the year for young eligible players to be loaned by their teams. With both the Kings and the Kraken in good shape in the standings, losing these players to the tournament isn’t a tough pill to swallow. In fact, it gives them time to develop and add some seasoning to their game.

From being bumped down to fourth overall to a conditioning stint with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, Shane Wright has had a tough go. The stint paid off for him as he found the scoreboard (four goals in five games). Upon being recalled from the stint, he scored his first NHL goal against the Montreal Canadiens. This is the perfect position for him as he will get a lot more ice time and be a great addition once he returns.
Brandt Clarke
Brandt Clarke is one of the top prospects in the pipeline for the Los Angeles Kings. So far he has skated in nine games with the big club and has two assists. Since being with the Ontario Reign, he has had two points in five games. Like Wright, it’s perfect for him to get ice team and represent his country. Also having Scott Niedermayer as an assistant coach could help him with his development.
Team Canada Getting A Good Pair
Team Canada enters the World Juniors with two young studs on their hands. Both players are at the top of the prospect charts for their clubs and both look to take the next step in development. This is a good situation for them both and getting the ice time has its benefits. Camp opens up Friday in Moncton, NB as both players are expected to arrive.
