The powerhouse Braves lineup will see if they can mess with Big Tex
While a sweep would have been nice, the Mariners did do what they needed to do and took the series against the Diamondbacks, adding to their stash of wins before the red-hot Atlanta Braves roll into town today. If you read the series preview—and even if you didn’t—you won’t be shocked to learn the Mariners aren’t favored to win a single one of these games, as the Mariners will be pitching mostly the bottom of their rotation against the top of Atlanta’s, and also, the Atlanta lineup could probably take on the 20s Yankees.
Lineups:
Tonight Bryce Miller will test his mettle against the pressure cooker of Atlanta’s offense. Miller’s revamped weapons didn’t fool the Texas Rangers and their bevy of mashing lefties, but the Braves starting lineup slants definitely more righty-heavy. Meanwhile, the Mariners hitters will have to contend with Max Fried and his breaking/offspeed-heavy mix, something they have, uh, not done well this season. Could be a rough one! But it’s also a ruff one—it’s Bark at the Park night, so at least there will be some cute doggos to look at on your screen as the Mariners are flailing after Fried’s curveball.
News:
The Mariners announced today they’ve optioned OF Jonatan Clase to Tacoma and recalled INF/OF Sam Haggerty.
