Will Warren v. Luis Castillo in the rubber match
Love an extra-innings walk off. Love, love, love it. Riding high on that energy, the Mariners will turn to Luis Castillo to try to win the series. The only other time Castillo’s faced the Yankees at T-Mobile Park was in his Mariners’ debut there in 2022, another low-scoring, extra-innings walk-off of the Yankees. You (correctly) voted to give it the inaugural Lookie for Game of the Year.
Lineups
J.P. Crawford is a late scratch, so we get a Leo Rivas sighting for those who’ve been yearning. It also means that Miles Mastrobouni will bat leadoff, which is actually his second time in the leadoff spot this year. The first game ended up going alright. No word yet on why J.P. was scratched.
News
In case you missed the news, Bryce Miller is (finally, depending on your view of things) going on the IL with right elbow inflamation, but is expected to return as soon as eligible. To fill his spot on the roster, the Mariners have called up Jhonathan Díaz. Ostensibly to pitch, but that doesn’t sound right to me.

“To me it was more of a command thing, at least early on. Sometimes that’s a physical thing and sometimes that’s a mental thing. He continued to say he wasn’t feeling like himself, and so it’s going to be good to get that taken care of and get back to who he is.”
